An Ancient Sufi Poem

I have a thousand brilliant lies

For the question:

How are you?

I have a thousand brilliant lies

For the question:

What is God?

If you think that the Truth can be known

From words,

If you think that the Sun and the Ocean

Can pass through that tiny opening

Called the mouth,

O someone should start laughing!

Someone should start wildly laughing –

Now!

    Hi there,

Just linked over from the site nakedpastor.

Haven’t got too far into your blog(s) but I did want to say this poem is a stand-out WOW for me.

This is an amazing comment on the idea of living and understanding through analogy, something I’ve been puttering with lately. I’m going to keep this in my head for a while.

    Thanks.

I too love this poem. I often use it as my signature line in my emails. Thanks for visiting and I hope you come back again. David’s blog is amazing and I greatly admire his work. I will check out your blog.
