What Five Things Are You Glad You Tried?

This was the question asked on a recent post in the blog “Soul Pancake” (see link below).  The author went on to say:

I’ve been known to say, “I’ll try anything once.” And I try to stick to that. Having that sense of adventure doesn’t always pay off (pickled octopus is NOT a good idea) or result in a new favorite thing, but the vast majority of the time, I’m glad I tried it.

List five things you’re glad you tried.

1. Scuba diving
2. Working a normal 9-to-5 office gig
3. Writing poetry
4. A real relationship
5. Good gin

So . . . what are five things that I am glad I’ve tried?  Well, here is my list:

  1. Riding in a glider over parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
  2. Eating escargot at a recent wedding reception (it was better than I thought it would be).
  3. Traveling to Jamaica and South Korea on trips with the Drew Theological School Choir, and especially being able to sing with the choir at the largest church in the world in Seoul, Korea.
  4. Going to college (was the first in my extended family to do so), and then going 700 miles away from home to attend Seminary at Drew in New Jersey.
  5. My agreeing to take Desiree as a foster child when she was a month old and my wife and I had only been married a week or so.

How about you?
