My friend James Higham recently did a blog post on “five things” that make him happy. His list included:
1. When a plan comes together, meeting a target, finding a blank space in the diary and reading a good book;
2. Sailing, skiing or walking in the forest, feeling on top of the world, making someone happy;
3. Lovely meal and wine with convivial company, especially with a lady who doesn’t mind my BS, having a good laugh; (to read the rest of his list, click on the link below)
James also asked, “Could you list yours under five headings?” This post is my attempt to do that. James and I have several things in common, as you will see.
- Reading a good book . . . getting lost in it so that I lose track of time.
- Picking up my daughter Desiree for a stay with me.
- Participating in a worship service with people who love to sing and who are glad to be worshiping God together.
- Thunderstorms (and rainy days in general).
- Fresh, ripe fruit . . . especially cantaloupe, watermelon (the kind with the seeds as God intended), bananas (it is so hard to find and eat a banana at the peak of ripeness before it gets too mushy), and strawberries (not those that are strip-mined in California or Texas and shipped to the Northeast).
How about you? Do you have your own list of five things?
