It Figures

This is the first time I have been away from Pottstown in almost two years.  I have been looking forward to the writing retreat I am at for several months, as well as the opportunity to visit some friends after the retreat ends.  So, it figures, that I would somehow manage to get sick yesterday.

It started in the morning when I had an allergic reaction to some soy milk I used on my cereal.  I didn’t see the regular milk in the fridge, so I grabbed some soy milk for my Life cereal.  I had just about finished my cereal when my throat began to tighten and then began to burn and itch.  It wasn’t too serious, but the uncomfortable feeling remained for a few hours until being replaced by the constant urge to cough.

While I do not think the two are necessarily related, the fact of the matter is that since yesterday afternoon I have been coughing constantly, my coughs are getting deeper and “juicier” sounding (if you know what I mean), and I am tired beyond all belief.  I couldn’t write anything of consequence right now, even if I wanted to.

My hope is that this sickness will soon go away, but who knows if it will or not.  Say a prayer for me, if you have the time.  I’d appreciate it.

God Reigns

"While we deliberate, God reigns;
When we decide wisely, he reigns;
When we decide foolishly, he reigns;
When we serve him in humble loyalty, he reigns;
When we serve him self-assertively, he reigns;
When we rebel and seek to withhold our service,
He reigns: the Alpha and Omega,
Which was and is and which is to come,
The Almighty".
