Today in History – March 4th

It is the birthday today of Antonio Vivaldi (3/4/1678 – 7/28/1741), Italian composer and violinist.  Below is a fascinating sand animation film featuring the “Spring” movement of his “Four Seasons” concerto.

On this date in 1738, the Moravian missionary Peter Bohler told the future English founder of Methodism, John Wesley, “Preach faith until you have it; and then, because you have it, you will preach faith.”  Wesley did just that, and the rest is history.

Today in 1966 London’s "Evening Standard" newspaper published an interview with Beatle John Lennon in which stated: “Christianity will… vanish and shrink… We’re more popular than Jesus Christ right now.” While other people may have said stupider things over the years.  This ranks right up there with the stupidest.

  1. This is wonderful, you find some great media. I also especially like the painting of Van Gogh’s below. Anyway, I always enjoy the finds on your site. Been trying to stay on the DL for Lent, but thought I should say “hi”.
