Thomas Cole’s “The Return” 1837

On this day in 1801, the American painter Thomas Cole was born.  He is best known for his expansive landscapes, as evidenced above.

Stressing the importance of praying for others, John Wesley (the father of Methodism) wrote in a letter on this day in 1791: ‘Probably I should not be able to do so much did not many of you assist me by your prayers.’
