On this day Queen Victoria of England died after ruling for 63 years (1901).  Lyndon Baines Johnson, our 36th president, died at his ranch in Johnson City, Texas, at age 64 (1973).  The Senate confirmed Madeleine Albright as the nation’s first female secretary of state in 1997.  The Unabomber Theodore Kaczynski pleaded guilty in a Sacramento, California court on this day in 1998 in return for a sentence of life in prison without parole.
