I put what words I could completely see into Babelfish, and this is what it generated:
probably tons of the life noth nevertheless schauert live before death — to live sees the dark hand, which… it offered bright cup
I think Babelfish is simply a word-by-word translator, so doesn’t deal with idioms and such. Maybe a German speaker can do better…
The inscription if the first 2 stanzas of a poem by Goethe:
“Truly death ends life’s need,
Yet shudders life ‘fore death;
Life sees the dark hand,
Not the bright chalice she offers.”
Thanks for the translation, Larry!
