Powerpoint Backgrounds for Epiphany 3C

Here are some powerpoint slides/backgrounds for Epiphany 3C, which feature boats and fish/nets.  The images I used for creating these slides are from Hermanolean Clipart.  This site allows the use of its material for nonprofit purposes and features both color and black and white images suitable for bulletin covers and slides.  As always, click on the pics to go to my flickr account to view and/or download larger versions of each (800×600 px).  Although it is hard to see this with the white background slides, they too are 800×600 in size.

Spicebird – Email, Calendar, Tasks, and More (An Outlook Replacement?)

If you don’t like to use Outlook, there is now a new PIM (Personal Information Manager) out there for you to consider.  Combining the best of Thunderbird and Lightning with a snazzy new interface, we now have Spicebird to play around with. As Cybernet says:

The most unique features would be the customizable homepage and the integrated instant messaging. The homepage lets users select from a limited number of applets, and arrange them in any fashion. Once there are more of these applets available it will be more worthwhile.

Here’s an overview of the features currently available in Spicebird 0.4 Beta:

  • Access email from their service provider using POP/IMAP protocols
  • Manage schedule using calendar and tasks applications
  • Subscribe to others’ public calendars
  • Read news/blogs using RSS subscriptions
  • Manage contacts
  • Chat with friends by using their gtalk or other Jabber accounts

(From Download Spicebird Beta – Email, Calendar, Tasks, and More, written by Ryan on Cybernet on Mon, 14 Jan 2008 20:14:31 GMT)

Some screenshots of this new PIM are below, and some more can be found here.  I very much like Spicebird’s clean look and the tab bar.  The only thing that it is missing to make it a complete PIM, in my opinion, is a “Notes” tab/section.

FeedDemon and NetNewsWire are now FREE

[print_link]

Looking for the perfect desktop feedreader?  Look no further.  FeedDemon and NetNewsWire are now free.  I have sung the praises of FeedDemon before, and even bought the program a little over a year ago for $15.00 on sale because none of the other free desktop feedreaders were up to snuff as far as I was concerned.  It beats the heck out of GreatNews, RSS Owl, and RSS Bandit, for instance.  Further, FeedDemon works seamlessly with WindowsLiveWriter as well.  In fact the article below was imported using FeedDemon and WLW.

If you want to use a great desktop feedreader, then FeedDemon is for you.  Click on the links below to get it.

NetNewsWire FeedDemon

NewsGator has made a HUGE unexpected step today by releasing their RSS news readers for free. That includes NetNewsWire (Mac), FeedDemon (Windows), and NewsGator Go (Blackberry, Java Mobile, and Windows Mobile). That’s right, they are all FREE now.

What’s even better is that all of these clients synchronize with NewGator’s online service, which can be used to read news anywhere you have access to the Internet. . . .That’s not all either. They are also releasing new versions of all their RSS products! Here are some of the new features from . . . FeedDemon . . . includes a panic button for clearing out some older unread items, some user interface enhancements, performance improvements, inline searching, attention reporting, and more.

We have been using FeedDemon for quite awhile (we’re actually paid customers), and it is by far the best feed reader for Windows. It can handle hundreds of feeds without stuttering, and the fact that it’s now free makes it irresistible! It’s time to go get NetNewsWire (Mac), FeedDemon (Windows), or NewsGator Go (Blackberry, Java Mobile, and Windows Mobile).
